zodiac killer

The Zodiac Killer

After studying during the day, Noelene and I went to see the new David

Fincher movie 'Zodiac'. Fincher is the guy who made 'Fight Club' and

'Panic Room'. 'Zodiac' is based on the books by Robert Graysmith, who

is played by Jake 'Donnie' Gyllenhaal in the film. The cast in this

movie is the perfect cast. Seriously, if I was going to make a movie

about a bunch of cool, obsessed detective type guys I would cast it

with these guys, because they are all in my top ten list of fav male

actors.

You've got Donnie, and Robert Downey Jnr, Mark Ruffalo, Elias Koteas,

Brain Cox, and Philip Baker Hall. Bunch of champs that they are.

Anyhow, there was this killer who called himself the 'Zodiac' in the

late 60s and 70s. He sent these cryptic messages to the police and the

press. The weird thing is that he might not have killed anybody. The

case is officially unsolved still today. What drives the movie is not

'Who Dunnit' but the way that the case takes over peoples lives. It's

a pretty long film too, because they show you every little detail as

the case progresses over the years. Great film. Fincher rules.

Now, onto the actual killer. When you start troweling the net it's

easy to see why people got obsessed with this. It's that whole strange

feeling you get when something isn't quite closed, no closure. If

you're interested in looking at this stuff wikipedia is a good place

to start. There is a pretty comprehensive look at the case just on

there, but there is also a great list of links to check out.

There is also a few videos on youtube from when the case was all over

the news. It's quite creepy watching the old 1969 news footage.

Another great site to read is this one. This guy is convinced that the

Zodiac killer was a hoax and he has a bunch of reasons to back it up.

It's strange. I don't normally get into this kind of killer mystery

stuff, but there's just something really interesting and particularly
