Baby Zodiac

The skeptic in me doesn't believe in astrology, but sometimes it's fun

to check out my horoscope in magazines. So I thought this article in

Parents magazine on Zodiac Signs For Babies was cute.

Johnny is a Virgo and here is what it says about him.

Virgo: August 23-September 22

Determined, resourceful, and industrious, your baby is anxious to

get a head start in life. Play off his goal-oriented nature with

toys that give him a sense of accomplishment (such as soft blocks,

shape sorters, and pounding boards). Your child is likely to be a

picky eater by nature. Expand his tastes by offering a variety of

healthy foods at mealtime. Virgos don't like disorder; keep his

nursery and play area tidy. Fend off fussiness by changing his

dirty diapers quickly. And be ready with a fresh outfit the minute

he gets a stain on what he's wearing.

I cracked up at the part about being a picky eater, because Johnny is

the poster child for picky. He also mastered his shape sorter toy very

early, and loves blocks and things that let him pound. However, he

could care less about wearing dirty clothes or having a messy bedroom.

In fact, he is the one making the room messy! John did point out that

Johnny doesn't like disorder when it comes to his food. Don't bother

giving him a broken cracker, because he won't eat it.

Maureen is a Sagittarius, and here is her horoscope.

Sagittarius: November 22-December 21

Optimistic, outgoing, and content, little Archers are true

explorers. Put your baby in a carrier or stroller and she'll

happily go wherever you lead. Spend time roaming around the

backyard and checking out the neighborhood: She needs lots of

exercise for her physical and mental health. Your child will bounce

back quickly from little spills and failures. But she also gets

bored easily and constantly needs new toys. To hold her attention,

read lots of stories about exciting adventures in faraway lands--

and promise that she'll get to visit them someday too.

Maureen is one of the most contented babies I have ever met, and she

is very social. She was always happy as an infant when I stuck her in

the Bjorn, but now that she's mobile on her own, she'd rather be down

on the floor exploring. The part about getting bored is funny too,

because she'll play with certain toys for ages, and others she will

toss aside instantly because it's no fun for her.

Click on the link and see what the article says about your baby. How

accurate is it?

Zodiac (David Fincher, 2007) [8]

I've never been that big a fan of Fincher's work, finding the queasy

opulence of films like Seven and Fight Club not to my taste. Here, he

tones it down and plays his hand relatively straightforwardly about

the notorious serial killer who terrorized the Bay Area in the late

60s/early 70s and vanished, never to be solved. This film on one hand

contains the standard procedural drama, laying out the facts of the

case which have been well covered over the years. What makes this film

work and how Fincher differentiates it from banality is the thread of

male obsession that runs through. Obsession and compulsion can be used

to describe the killer himself, as the Zodiac claims in the film. But

the obsession of knowing the truth is what really drives this film.

The three other main characters, the boy scout cartoonist, the

hardened, boozy reporter, and the earnest detective at some point

become all consumed with the details of the case and are unable to let

it go. The performances of the three, Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo,

and Robert Downey Jr., perfectly embody the determination and

obsession that come with wanting to know what happen. They perfectly

stand in for the audience as everybody wants to know who the Zodiac

was and why he did what he did. But Fincher also succeeds in not

really answering anything. The film wants to tag Arthur Leigh Allen as

the Zodiac but all the psychical evidence in the case cannot be linked

to him. The film doesn't have any more answers by the end than when it

started. The strength of the film is that it can still be effective

even though the entire course of it was a search for answers and it

turned up nothing.

Fincher as the director here is a near perfect match. Someone who is

notoriously detail obsessive as he fits the overall theme of the film

perfectly. No detail in matching the period of the early 70s is spared

all the way down to the studio cards at the beginning of the film.

I've found Fincher's style to be a little overbearing in the past, but

Components of Astrology

Today's astrology primarily concerns itself with the reading of a

horoscope chart cast based upon the moment of an individual's birth.

In some cases, complex methods of progressing the planets of the birth

chart enable the astrologer to predict the future for the person for

whom the chart was cast. The chart is interpreted in relation to the

influence of the zodiacal signs and the various powers the planets

possess in these signs. There are different house systems linked with

interpretation of the directions in a person's life, and in these,

planetary and other influences manifest themselves. The house system

in astrology is divided into twelve arcs, symbolically presented as

being equal either in a spatial system or in a time system. This

division is superimposed upon the projected celestial sphere, with the

symbolic horizon line usually marking the cusps of the first and

seventh houses, the east point and west point, respectively. The tenth

house cusp marks the symbolic zenith, called the Medium coeli, while

the fourth house cusp marks the symbolic nadir, called the Imutn

coeli. Planetary effects are considered not only in terms of zodiacal

placing, such as on the basis that Mars in Leo is different from Mars

in Cancer, but also in terms of the angles they may or may not hold to

each other; this realm of astrology is the study of aspects.

The Zodiac

The zodiac is an imaginary belt in the celestial sphere, which extends

about 8 on either side of the ecliptic, or apparent path of

the Sun among the stars. The width of the zodiac was determined

originally to include the orbits of the Sun and Moon and of the five

planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, as these were the

only planets known to the people of ancient times.

The zodiac is divided into 12 sections of 30 each and within

these lies the signs of the zodiac. Starting with the vernal equinox

and then proceeding eastward along the ecliptic, each of the divisions

is named for the constellation situated within its limits as observed

in the 2nd century BC.

The names of the zodiacal signs are Aries, the Ram; Taurus, the Bull;

Gemini, the Twins; Cancer, the Crab; Leo, the Lion; Virgo, the Virgin;

Libra, the Balance; Scorpio, the Scorpion; Sagittarius, the Archer;

Capricorn, the Goat; Aquarius, the Water Bearer; and Pisces, the

Fishes.

Because of the precession of the equinoxes about the ecliptic, a

26,000-year cycle, the first point of Aries retrogrades about

1 in 70 years, so that the sign Aries today lies in the

constellation Pisces. In about 24,000 years, when the retrogression

will have completed the entire circuit of 360, the zodiacal

signs and constellations will again coincide.

kids in glass houses tonight is goodbye

KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES + Tonight Is Goodbye + SaidMike. Zodiac, Oxford.

24.10.07

Tonight Oxford is all about the future. Even from a distance the

Zodiac's line-up is glowing with good prospects, get closer and

there's a fluorescent pink flood of promise and potential washing down

the street, and once inside the building it's impossible to move for

the glare of a band who are going to be absolutely huge.

First on and Welsh wonders SaidMike may not have progressed a whole

lot since supporting The Blackout over the summer but continue to

impress nonetheless. In frontman Tom they've got a singer who can

actually sing, in their nifty keys and synth tricks they've got

everything they need to keep things interesting and in tunes like

`Mind Over Muscle' and `Heads Down...' they've got songs that could

take them supernova. If they would just lift their heads a little, and

maybe consider a name change, this lot could take over the world.

Planet-beating is something that Tonight Is Goodbye have promised for

a while now. They may already have some slick moves and stylish poses

down pat but this evening they expand their pop-rock arsenal

brilliantly- boosted confidence, a bigger sound and brilliant-sounding

new tunes helping them make the leap from local charmers to headline

contenders with ease. They finish with a riotous version of `Black

Dress', girls scream, boys sing, everybody dances like a loon and the

future, as they say, is most definitely bright.

Kids In Glass Houses sound close enough to that particular light to

explode any day now. Truthfully the band are still a toilet-tour

proposition and without a full-length to their name but, from the

first twinkling notes of their set to the final ballsy bounce of `Me

Me Me', the Cardiff quintet handle the pressure of such a stellar

supporting cast with ease. Frontman Aled is a super-self-assured

dynamo and the band behind him sound like Funeral For A Friend with

their passion fully restored, like Angels And Airwaves boiled to down

to atmospheric pop perfection and, much like the other bands on

tonight's bill, are clearly ready for rock'n'roll superstardom.

Tonight Oxford was all about the future. And in these days of retro

rock, vintage riffs and much British music looking desperately to past

My Result: Sagittarius

Take this test!

Initially, a Sagittarius may catch your eye with their knack for witty

conversation and flirtation. But as you get to know them better,

you're even more likely to be drawn to your Sagittarian's

adventurousness and unhesitating willingness to take the risks

necessary to keep life fun and free. People born under this sign are

typically both enjoyable to be around and interesting to talk with. Be

aware that Sagittarians do have a tendency to become restless at

times. However, this sense of adventure will help keep things exciting

in your relationship. In the bedroom, you'll likely find that the

Archer is sexually creative and will keep you happily engaged. This is

simply a natural extension of the Sagittarian nature. Overall, they

want to get the most out of life and are always on the lookout for

exciting new adventures.

My Zodiac Sign

Who keeps an arrow in his bow, And if you prod him, lets it go? A

fervent friend, a subtle foe --- Scorpio

I'm always intrigued with my zodiac sign. Call me superstitious, but I

truly believe in the astronomy galaxy that works in a miraculous way

of how you are born. So here is something I've come across in my junk

mail. If you like to know more about Scorpio, analyze this!

>SCORPIO MAN > > >A man with a foggy clouds over him. He is sensitive

and easily hurt and >always feels lonely. He does not trust anyone but

himself. Sounding so >negative, but he has an amazingly charisma. He

is a compassionate man . He >absorbs other people sentimental feeling

and pain. > >He is a good psychiatrist and he could understand complex

and confused >feeling. He has a hidden power that he could use it to

make things happen >and do things well. He does not like people who

never try to help themselves >before asking other people for favors.

He is the type of guy who mostly >achieved his goal in life.Once he

sets his mind for something, he will put >all his energy and efforts

in it , whether or not it is a small matter or a >big project. One of

the most success man in all the Zodiac. > >He is a very patient man

and can waits for years to reach his goal. He hates >thin feeling and

weak determinations. He can not retreat or rest for long, >for he

thinks life has more questions and more answer to be searched. > >If

he is in love, you will get plenty of love from him, sometimes may be

too >much than you have asked for. He is serious about love and

relationship and >will not waste time with someone he does not love

whether how pretty she is. > >He hardly makes mistake. He could tell

if you have any bad thought, and will >not hesitate to tell you so. If

you do not like straight forward sincere >man, then pack your bag now.

If you are an over sensitive person, try not to >ask for his comments.

He will tell you the truth, even you might not be able >to take it.

Example , if you ask him if you are fat (and you are fat), he >will

say "yes, as big as a balloon". He makes such comments because he

cares >for you, so do something about your weight and do not get up

set with him. > >If he says "you look pretty today", you can be proud

because he will not say >such think just to please you if he does not

really mean it. There will be >both kind of people, those who like him

and those who hate him. If you are >in love this guy, be strong and

belief in your decision, do not be >vulnerable. He remembers all his

anger and will wait for his pay back time. > >He is very serious about

your promise, do not promise something you could >not keep. He loves

his friends and will do anything for his close friends. >He likes you

to take care of him, but not in front of his friend. He is a >complex

man and you will never understand what he means if you do not really

>know him. He is happy to know he is a complex figure. When he is

thinking or >when he needs his privacy, you should give him some

space. > >He memorize everything well. You may say something that you

already >forgotten, but he will remember every words. He wants to be

respected and >admired and at the same time he does not like people to

have power over him. > >When he falls in love, he really falls deep. A

man in this Zodiac once in >love, he will be sweeter than sugar. He

does not like a plain and simple >woman. A complex woman's mind is his

venture. Always be interesting and able >to talk to him about every
